Yongqian 3rd Well VOC Tail Gas Recovery Project

From August 8 to October 8, 2023—spanning 64 days—Sichuan Host Company efficiently completed the critical task of flash vapor recovery at the Yongqian 3-AB platform in Shizhong Town, Jianyang City. This platform, the largest tight-gas facility in Southwest China, features 11 wells and boasts a peak daily production capacity of up to 1 million cubic meters of natural gas. Addressing the longstanding issues of resource wastage and environmental risks caused by prolonged venting, the company’s team innovatively developed a "self-powered dual-pressure-regulating valve closed-loop system." Leveraging advanced gas-flow dynamic compensation technology, this solution effectively tackled the industry challenge of equipment shutdowns triggered by intense flash gas surges—commonly seen during high-flow operations. The system is further enhanced with a proprietary automatic pressure-relief mechanism and manual intervention protocols for added safety redundancy. During the project, the team dedicated a total of 880 technical personnel-hours, refined process workflows over 50 iterations, conducted more than 70 safety and technical workshops, and customized five specialized devices tailored specifically for this operation. As a result, 100% of the platform’s flash gas was successfully converted into CNG and reinjected into the pipeline network. This achievement translates to an annual emissions reduction equivalent to 18,000 tons of standard coal, providing crucial technological support for transforming the Tianfu Gas Field into a green development model that achieves "zero flaring and full utilization"—a true industry benchmark for sustainable energy practices.
