October 16, 2019: China-Russia Eastern Gas Pipeline Nitrogen Purging Project
The China-Russia East Route Natural Gas Pipeline Project was a key energy initiative in China in 2019, designed with the largest pipe diameter available at the time—φ1422mm. Upon completion, it will deliver Russian natural gas to Northeast and North China regions, effectively addressing winter gas shortages in northern areas. Our company undertook the nitrogen displacement project for the Changchun Station–Valve Chamber No. 28 (including 109 km of 1016mm pipelines and 29 km of 1422mm pipelines). Originally scheduled to be completed within 24 to 36 hours, we meticulously planned and executed the work scientifically, overcoming significant challenges such as the large volume of liquid nitrogen required, tight deadlines, and extremely cold weather conditions. Thanks to our efficient approach, we successfully finished the displacement and sealing operations in just 13 hours—setting a new industry record. The project team exemplified a spirit of hard work and perseverance, leveraging their professional expertise and exceptional execution to earn high praise from the client. Their efforts played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth commissioning of this vital national energy corridor.
